Posted on March 29, 2019

Jill Borowicz, chief executive officer of SafeSpace, will retire from her leadership role at the organization in June.

The budget for SafeSpace, the only certified domestic violence center on the Treasure Coast, has grown from $500,000 to $3.3 million under Borowicz' s 11 years of leadership.

Fundraising for the nonprofit has grown from $17,000 to almost $1 million in community support each year.

The board of directors of SafeSpace plans to search for a new chief executive.

"We will miss her passion, commitment and organizational skills but are pleased that she will be assisting us in our search for a new executive so that we can assure the organization's success into the future," said board President Dan Pimpo.

Borowicz previously served as the chief executive officer for Hibiscus Children's Center, was on staff at New Horizons of the Treasure Coast, served for nine years in the military, and has been an active partner in the area's nonprofit community for three decades.
